Novel Wideband Planar Fractal Monopole Antenna
Mahdi Naghshvarian Jahromi IEEE TRANSACTIONS ON ANTENNAS AND PROPAGATION, VOL. 56, NO. 12, DECEMBER 2008. pp. 3844-3849. Abstract—A planar monopole antenna using the Penta-Gasket-Koch (PGK) is introduced. The design achieves a good input impedance match and linear phase of throughout the passband (1.5–20 GHz and 5 dB criterion for impedance bandwidth). But some occasional slight mismatch and small phase distortion occurs at low frequencies. Four different experimental results are shown and the measured gain is generally 4 dBi. For better insight, The performance and input impedance of the proposed antenna are compared with those of the conventional PGK monopole antenna. For analyzing the time-domain characteristics of the antenna, the proposed antenna is assumed to be excited by the three wideband signals corresponding to 1.5–3, 6.0–12, and 13.5–20 GHz which means this antenna can be used as multiband antenna in time domain applications. However, each band consists of wide range of frequency. These bands are selected to examine the time domain response of proposed antennas. For insurability the proposed antenna can be used in pulse communications systems, the correlation between the time-domain transmitting antenna input signal and the receiving antenna output signal is calculated. This antenna is suitable for applications in ICMS, DECT, UMTS, Bluetooth, and WLAN systems. Because of linear phase and good impedance match, with some further optimization and manufacturing aspect, this antenna can serve in UWB applications. |

Progress In Electromagnetics Research Letters, Vol. 3, 95–103, 2008 NOVEL Ku BAND FAN BEAM REFLECTOR BACK ARRAY ANTENNA M. Naghshvarian-Jahromi Department of Electrical Engineering Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) Tehran, Narmak, Iran Abstract—In this paper, a Ku band fan beam reflector back array antenna is introduced. This is made up of two main parts that are planar array and main reflector. The proposed antenna has dimensions of 103.327.512mm3 including the reflector. This antenna with high gain for incorporating in Ku band radars at 13.4–14 GHz is described. The fan beam radiation patterns with monopolar characteristics i.e., the cross-polarization is at least 10 dB lower than the co-polarization and are obtained in the frequency band of interest. The maximum gain for proposed antenna is 16.6 dBi at 13.75 GHz and the peak gain generally >16 dBi throughout the frequency band of interest. |

Naghshvarian-Jahromi and M. Tayarani Department of Electrical Engineering Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) Tehran, Narmak, Iran Abstract —In this paper, miniature planar UWB filters with circular slots in ground is presented and we are using a new technique by etching a wideband circular-shape slot resonator in the ground plane of the filters. The proposed filters have compact size of 15 12.4mm2. Two filters are introduced and the final design achieves flat insertion loss and linear phase of S12 throughout the passband (3.14–8.28 GHz) but occasional slight ripple occurs. Two different results are shown and the minimum insertion loss is less than 0.13 dB for both of presented filters. |

Naghshvarian-Jahromi Department of Electrical Engineering Iran University of Science and Technology (IUST) Tehran, Narmak, Iran Abstract —In this paper, a compact band-notched UWB planar antenna with Transmission-Line-fed is presented and I’m using a new technique by etching a narrowband resonance H-shape slot in the ground plane of the antenna. This antenna is capable reducing the interference at the WLAN bands by eliminating the 4.85–6.17 GHz band. The proposed antenna has compact size of 16 22mm2 including the ground plane and because of miniature dimensions, good radiation patterns with monopolar characteristics are obtained in the frequency band of interest i.e., at least 10 dB isolation exists between co-polarization and cross-polarization. The gain is suppressed very well in WLAN bands. The maximum suppression is in 5.4 GHz that is 13.6 dB less than the gain of normal antenna.Download Link: http://ceta.mit.edu/pierb/pierb03/20.07121407.pdf |

NOVEL MINIATURE SEMI-CIRCULAR-SEMI-FRACTAL MONOPOLE DUAL BAND ANTENNA J. of Electromagn. Waves and Appl., Vol. 22, No. 2, 227–237, 2008
Abstract—In this paper, new type of monopole antenna named Sierpinski-Carpet-Circular (SCC) are introduced. The antenna has design on two frequency bands of 7.5–11 GHz and 13–18 GHz. Furthermore, my design has special radiation pattern. In the other word, this antenna has Conical-Beam and radiation pattern doesn’t have notch on top of antenna such as conventional monopole antenna. This behavior occurs, because of change in convention circular shape. I achieved to desirable Return Loss with the two elements from fractal shape add to semi circular geometry. Also, these elements reduce crosspolarization in ϕ = 0◦ cut. Minimum gain is 7.15 dB in measurement frequency. In results, this antenna has moderate gain. This objective is introduced here hoping for expand branch of fractal shapes in composite to other good shape antenna for multi-band and wideband antenna applications. and second paper NOVEL FRACTAL MONOPOLE WIDEBAND ANTENNA J. of Electromagn. Waves and Appl., Vol. 22, No. 2, 195–205, 2008
Abstract—In this paper, two new types of fractal monopole antennas named Penta-Gasket-Khoch (PGK) and Complementary-Penta-Gasket-Khoch (CPGK) are introduced. My designs have achieved a good input impedance match throughout the pass band (2–20 GHz), but some occasional irregular small mismatch exists. These antennas are suitable for applications in picocell environments for the operating bands of ICMS, UMTS, Bluetooth, WLAN and HIPERLAN systems. Further optimization and some manufacturing aspects have been considered.
